Review: "The newest shoot on the branch came from Mayke Nas. Plons (splash) is the name of her piece for ten musicians - a big band of whispering. Suggestions of harmony and suspicions of rhythm end in an astoundingly pretty (but at heart old and familiar) seventh chord. That is how effective music can be when it comes from nothing."

It started with thinking about silence. Hearing a pin drop. A way of expressing silence in sound. Letting a silence fall. Falling. Could I let a piece of music fall into water? And how would that sound? Drowning a piece of music. That would be a nice idea, I thought, that would eventually lead to nothing but silence. 'Reflets dans l'eau' by Debussy came into my mind. Reflections in the water. Would it be possible to get them a ducking? An Escherian sense of (dis)illusion crept up on me. I think it is impossible. But what is not possible or not done irresistably attracts me...
